ASDA and Ocado have announced a new partnership in the UK that's targeted towards streamlining grocery delivery to improve the customer experience.
The partnership will see ASDA rolling out Ocado's Smart Platform technology to leverage its expertise in online grocery retail for greater stability and ease of use. The rollout will incorporate the brand's website, app, in-store shopping and home delivery service by 2027, while also introducing improved search. ASDA will retain full control over its customer offer, prices and online operations, while leveraging Ocado's expertise to help it regain more market share in the increasingly competitive grocery category.
ASDA Executive Chairman Allan Leighton spoke on the partnership with Ocado saying, "Asda is the cheapest full-range supermarket, as consistently shown by independent price comparisons from Which? and The Grocer, and has a large, well-established online offer. We know that continued success in this highly competitive market is dependent on providing a positive experience for customers every time they shop. Partnering with Ocado will strengthen our online offer and provide a consistent and high-quality experience for millions of shoppers, from order through to delivery, while supporting our Formula for Growth.”
